Servicom's provision of Motorola DP Motorbo Portable Radios met the challenges presented by one of the most testing environments in the world.
The Makalu ascent attempt that took part earlier this year was one of the most ambitious climbs undertaken by a British team. Whilst circumstances meant that the summit was not reached the ascent itself was an incredible and inspiring journey...


Makalu, an imposing 8,462 meter peak located in the Himalayas, is a daunting and dangerous challenge for even the world's most experienced mountaineers, and the expedition teams achieved a great feat, even though events conspired against the summit been reached.
In extreme temperatures the Mototrbo Digital Portable radios were supplied to keep team members in contact during the summit climb and feedback from the grateful team has been exceptional:

The VHF radios supplied vital communications in one of the most extreme environments on the planet... there has only been 2 successful ascents of the Southern ridge in history.
